Indian Government (ICCR) Scholarship 2024 

The Government of India, through the ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations), is offering over 900 scholarships to international students aiming to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher courses in various institutions and universities across India. This initiative stems from the Prime Minister’s announcement demonstrating India’s commitment to enhancing academic opportunities for international students. Moreover, ICCR administers the Indian Government (ICCR) Scholarship scheme.

Benefits of the Indian Government (ICCR) Scholarship:

This scholarship covers the following benefits.

  • Living Allowance (Stipend)
  • House Rent Allowance (per month)
  • Contingent Grant (per annum)
  • Tuition Fee
  • Thesis and Dissertation Expenses (once in the entire duration of the course)
  • Medical Benefits: Scholars are expected to seek treatment only at medical centers or dispensaries attached to the universities or institutes they are enrolled in or at the nearest government hospital. Bills are settled as admissible according to AMA/CGHS norms.

Eligibility Criteria for the Indian Government (ICCR) Scholarship:

  • Applicants for doctoral or post-doctoral courses should include a synopsis of the proposed research area.
  • Aspiring performing arts students should enclose video or audio cassettes of their recorded performances if possible.
  • Your English should be good.
  • Priority is given to students with no prior study experience in India.
  • The scholarship is not available for those who want to study MBBS/MD, dentistry, or nursing courses.
  • Indian universities and institutions have their own eligibility criteria.
  • Acceptance of an application by the university does not guarantee admission. A scholarship is awarded only upon confirmation of admission by the ICCR.
  • Scholars must obtain the correct visa from the Indian Embassy or High Commission before arrival. Arriving without the proper visa may result in deportation.
  • Before departure, scholars should receive a briefing from the Indian Diplomatic Mission in their country regarding living conditions, scholarship details, and course specifics. They should also inform the Indian Embassy/High Commission of their travel schedule in advance.
  • Scholars should bring some money to cover incidental expenses upon arrival.
  • Scholars awarded scholarships must bring all original qualification documents for verification by the respective college or university at the time of admission.
