Responsibilities Under the IMF Economist Program

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the IMF Economist Program 2025, you must meet the following criteria:
- A recent PhD graduate or within one year of completing your PhD in a relevant field, such as macroeconomics, finance, public finance, monetary economics, international economics, or econometrics.
- A citizen of an IMF member country.
- Under the age of 34 when you start the program.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and IT skills.
- Willingness to travel, typically involving one to two missions per 18-month assignment.
Offer and Start Date
Successful candidates will receive offers in early February 2025, with a start date in September 2025 at the IMF’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.
