NELFUND Postpones Student Loan Application for State-Owned Institutions

Announcement

On June 25, 2024, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) management announced a postponement of the student loan application process for state-owned institutions.

Reason for Postponement

The decision stems from incomplete data submissions and fee information uploads by many of these institutions onto the NELFUND Student Verification System.

Current Status of Data Submissions

As of now, only a limited number of state-owned institutions have successfully completed the data submission process:

  • 20 out of 48 state universities
  • 12 out of 54 state colleges
  • 2 out of 49 state polytechnics

Challenges Highlighted

NELFUND highlighted that the failure of the remaining state institutions to submit data poses significant challenges in ensuring a smooth and accurate verification process for student loan applicants.

Revised Application Schedule

The application window will now commence on July 10, 2024.
